Note to myself: workbook saved on Imation USB as: FIMS_Small_N_Sample.xlsx
In 1972 - 1973, I was a member of a team working in Venezulea on a national assessment of education progress study.
My job was to develop a computer program to process results collected with mathematics and language tests as used at two grade levels in all parts of the country.
This program is now known as "Lertap 5".
I will introduce some of the capabilities of the program by showing you how it works as an "app" within Excel, using a sample of data collected from Australian and Japanese junior high-school students as part of the FIMS project.
we might ask Lertap, for example, to indicate which items were the hardest
what did the distribution of scores look like?
who did better, the Australian or the Japanese students?
Then I'll apply Lertap and Excel to some other tests, demonstrating the application of what is today known as "classical test theory", or "CTT".

Note: I do not want to appear to be selling software. Lertap 5 is in fact free for students to use, and relatively inexpensive for teachers and researchers. There are other programs which are totally free. Please see this paper.
